Arsenal beat Malaysia 4-0 in friendly

KUALA LUMPUR — Arsenal started their pre-season Asian tour with a resounding 4-0 victory over a spirited Malaysia side at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium on Wednesday.
The Gunners, who last played in Malaysia 12 years ago, will next play in China on Saturday.
All eyes were on leftback Kieran Gibbs, keen to make an impression on boss Arsene Wenger following the sale of Gael Glichy, but the performance of reserve rightback Carl Jenkinson would have left the Frenchman shaking his head.
The youngster was time and again left for dead by speedy Malaysian winger S. Kunalan, who carved out numerous opportunities for his side. Fortunately for the Gunners, their defence stood firm.
Wenger started with a young side and teenagers Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey dominated the centre of the park.
Wilshere caused panic in the Malaysian defence after just five minutes and was poised to shoot before Mahalli Jasuli brought him down, leaving referee Mohamad Yussof Mat Karim no choice but to point to the spot.
Up stepped Ramsey to convert the penalty, coolly sending Mohamad Nasril Mat Nourdin the wrong way, tucking his penalty to the right.
Malaysia?s best chance came when skipper Safiq Rahim?s free-kick from more than 35 yards out was tipped over for a corner by Wojciech Szczesny.
With Wilshere and Ramsey dictating the pace, Arsenal went further ahead in the 37th minute when Ramsey?s through ball released Theo Walcott down the right.
The England international kept his head to lob an onrushing Mohamad Yussoff to make it 2-0.
Arsenal made seven changes at half-time with the likes of Tomas Rosicky, Carlos Vela, Denilson and goalkeeper Vito Mannone all coming on.
It took the rejigged Gunners a while settle and Kunalan nearly pulled a goal back when he once again ran past Jenkinson, but shot straight at Mannone.
A couple of minutes later, Mannone held on to the ball for too long and Malaysia were awarded a freekick just inside the box, but Safiq?s attempt hit the wall.
Arsenal slowly got back into the game and came close on several occasions before Mexican hotshot Vela chipped Malaysia?s substitute keeper Khairul Fahmie Che Mat in the 58th minute.
The changes everyone in the stadium wanted came in the 67th minute when Arsenal brought on Samir Nasri, who is being chased by Manchester United and Manchester City, Robin Van Persie, Andrey Arsharvin and Barcary Sagna.

Police in England Arrest Man Suspected of Sexually Assaulting Sheep

July 18, 2008

Sheep_4Police in southeast London, England, have made an arrest in the case of a serial predator who has allegedly been sexually assaulting sheep in Chislehurst.
Metropolitan Police raided a Dulwich home yesterday morning and arrested a 27-year-old man, after his DNA was matched to a pair of jogging shorts that was found at the scene of a sexual assault that took place last month at Tong's Farm in Botany Bay Lane. During the raid, police also found drugs and a large amount of cash. The suspect, who has not been identified, was taken into custody on suspicion of bestiality and suspicion of drug possession with intent to supply.
According to News.bbc.co.uk, police are also investigating reports that the suspect took photographs of the sheep before he sexually assaulted them.
Investigators are aware of at least six separate sexual assaults that have occurred over the last three months.
The most recent incident, the one which led to the suspect’s arrest, occurred on the evening of June 16, when two joggers witnessed a tall black man sexually assaulting a sheep in a pasture near Tongs Farm on Botany Bay Lane. The man ran off when he saw the two joggers, but in his frenzy, he forgot to put his jogging shorts back on and left them behind at the scene. The two joggers notified police, who went to the scene and took the discarded shorts as evidence.
One month prior, on May 16, a stable girl was witness to another sexual assault on a sheep.
"I saw him in broad daylight. I was in the yard and only looked over because all the sheep were running," Chloe Williams, 18, told Bromleytimes.com. "He was trying to grab a sheep, and when I confronted him, he said he was trying to find his wallet. I was appalled. Then he ran off, after hurdling some fences. He's very athletic."
Similar to the June incident, the perpetrator left articles of clothing at the scene.
In addition to the eyewitness accounts, police were recently notified that two sheep were found dead in a field. During the investigation, police found a discarded item of clothing nearby, leading to speculation that the deaths are connected to the other cases.
If convicted on the bestiality charges, the suspect faces a maximum sentence of two years in prison.
Bromley Police are asking anyone with information about the crimes to contact them at 01689 891212 or Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.

Malay NGOs want Ambiga’s citizenship revoked

GEORGE TOWN: Bersih 2.0 leader S Ambiga’s citizenship is being questioned again. This time two Malay groups want her citizenship revoked for allegedly challenging the King’s authority.
Perkasa north-east branch head Mohd Rizuad Mohd Azudin and Pesatuan Suara Anak-Anak Malaysia (PSAM) head Mohamed Ghani Abdul Jiman both claimed that Ambiga had defied the King’s command to stop all rallies in the country.
On Sunday the King said any rally would bring more harm than good to the country, but the duo claimed Ambiga was stubborn not to call off the planned Bersih Rally 2.0 this Saturday.
Both accused Ambiga of being ‘arrogant’ to seek a Royal audience at Istana Negara before deciding whether or not to call of any rally.
They claimed Ambiga clearly defied the order and challenged the King when she said that she would only halt the rally if the King personally commanded Bersih to do so.
“Ambiga arrogance is appalling…her citizenship should be revoked immediately. She should leave Malaysia to live in another country if she feels that can better serve her interests,” said both Rizuad and Ghani at a joint press conference.
Malaysian opposition-backed activists said yesterday that they would scrap the rally on Saturday if the country’s constitutional monarch personally urged them to do so.
Today, Ambiga agreed to move the Bersih rally to indoor after meeting the King at Istana Negara.
Perkasa and Umno youth wing have also expressed willingness to cancel their own rallies meant to counter the Bersih rally.
Police reports lodged
Yang diPertuan Agong Mizan Zainal Abidin warned in a rare political statement late on Sunday that street demonstrations “bring more bad than good”. He said demands for democracy should not destroy the country and urged the government and Bersih to resolve the matter through dialogue.
Earlier Malacca Chief Minister Ali Rustam has called on the federal government to strip Ambiga of her citizenship.
Yesterday a group of 10 NGOs led by Alternative Action Team submitted a memorandum the Tuanku Mizan through a palace official to revoke Ambiga’s citizenship.
Early this morning, Rizuad and Ghani, who also heads Persatuan Suara Anak-Anak Mamak Pulau Pinang, lodged separate police reports against comments in two blog spots that allegedly criticised the King over his command to halt Bersih rally.
In their reports lodged at Jalan Patani city police headquarters, the duo had identified the two alleged anti-Pakatan Rakyat blog spots as www.pisau.net and papagomo.blogspot.com.
Guan Eng should go

In another development, the duo also lashed out at Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for supporting the Bersih rally.
They said that Lim should relinquish his post as the chief minister for ordering the state police to take against them for holding a rally last Friday.
They accused Lim of practicing double-standards and being hypocritical by directing the police to take severe action on them.
“However, on the other hand, Lim supports the illegal assembly Bersih rally 2.0. It’s hypocritical… he should quit and leave Penang,” they said.
Both were among eight arrested during the rally which turned violent last Friday. The rally was led by Ghani.
All those detained, including Umno’s Senator Ezam Mohd Nor, were released within hours without any charges.
The violent and noisy protest after the Friday prayers against the Pakatan Rakyat state government and the Bersih rally.
Ghani and Rizuad said their groups would continue to demonstrate against the Pakatan government if Lim’s administration continued with its racist policies ala communist ideology.
“We will step up out monitoring on Lim’s governance. He is a communist-minded person,” said Ghani.
